Thailand Jasmine Rice

1 week ago Thailand authority announced there is an increase of 800 baht of the price as China had placed an order of 500,000 tons of rice and followed by Singapore which placed 100,000 tons. The followings is a report from www.straitstimes.com:

15,800 baht per ton for the Jasmine rice works out to be S$0.62 per kg. But the actual selling price as done by Singapore NTUC Fairprice as shown by the following:

This works out to be S$1.84 per kg as paid by the average Singapore consumer. In other words, freight charge, logistics, packaging, delivery and management cost are the factors that inflate the prices further.
